Women Leading the Game: All-Female WIAA Officials

Allazia Blockton, Ashley Cunning, and Danitra Lewis are helping break new ground in Wisconsin sports as part of the WIAA all-female basketball officiating crew. In a field historically dominated by men, these strong, skilled women bring leadership, fairness, and professionalism to every court they officiate.

Allazia Blockton isn’t just an official — she’s a standout leader with a deep basketball legacy. A Milwaukee native, Blockton was one of the greatest players in Marquette University women’s basketball history, becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer with over 2,200 career points and earning Big East Player of the Year honors during her collegiate career.  After her playing days, she continued her love for basketball through coaching and officiating, staying connected to the game that shaped her life.

Their presence represents progress, showing that women not only belong in officiating roles but can thrive and lead at the highest levels of the game. Beyond enforcing the rules, they serve as role models for young female athletes who may not yet see themselves represented in these positions. By stepping confidently into leadership roles, they open doors for the next generation to pursue careers in sports as officials, coaches, and leaders.
